Ottawa film industry feeling cocky about economic activity

June 27, 2017 by in Events

The increase in production is happening across the industry, a direct result of growing demand for content prompted by the proliferation of streaming services.

A casting call went out on social media this week looking for a clean-shaven Ottawa resident to take on a manly and well-paying role in a new French-language television series that makes sex education fun for youths 12 and up. There were no lines to learn, but there was a catch: You have to wear a larger-than-life penis costume, which can be dyed to match your skin tone.

Hundreds of social media users had a ball with the callout. It originated from Ottawa’s GAPC Entertainment, an independent production company that’s shooting 13 half-hour episodes of the sex-ed show, entitled Tout sexplique!, for the Canadian specialty channel Unis. The show is based on the award-winning Doctor Corrie series from the Netherlands.
